RE: How to stop rocking

Definitely JTs. I don't use my Kingpin tripod anymore.

Lynx Blocks

We were camping a week ago when a violent wind struck. My brother-in-law was camped on one side in a 5er and a friend on the other side in a MH. This was at a lake in SW KS. My bro-in-law used the orange lynx blocks under all 4 points of the 5er. I had used them up until this year and will never use them again. The wind was clocked at just over 75mph peak gust. His 5er rocked enough that the orange blocks blew out and the unit turned a little sideways and dropped onto his truck bed, damaging it. The MH had let it down onto the tires, one of which was flat, and it rocked & rolled and moved about 6 inches. I had JTs installed upon wooden blocks I nailed together. We bounced around and moved just enough to tweak the front landing legs. No one was hurt but everyone had some damage. No advance warning of the storm so no preparation time (bring in slides, etc). There was nothing on the local channels before, during or after. Only thing I heard was someone screaming on the scanner just before it hit. The wind storm lasted over 30 minutes. Trees down everywhere and semis turned over on some hiways. Anyway, like I said, I'll never use those orange blocks because of them blowing out.

RE: INcreasing Cold Airflow to sleeping area ?

I have 2 ACs and sometimes use a fan to move the air around and equalize when it's really hot outside.

RE: fifth wheel air unit

I agree with Doug. R134 isn't for RV ac systems. I'd replace it with a newer more efficient one.

RE: fifth wheel set up

I switched to the Snap spring loaded pins. They are easier to use than the stock ones. However, you still have to bend over to use them.

RE: Wondering!

I'd take the scenic route. However, you want to make sure about height and width restrictions that may be in place because of construction or other reasons.

RE: AC Land Power Cable Theft

I've often worried about my 50 amp cable. It just plugs into the outside wall. So far I'm OK.

RE: Know any millionaires?

Yes we know a few. Most live just like everyone else. There are one or two that seem to have a battle about who can have the most ridiculously large house and fancy car, though. Status symbol.

RE: Wheel chocking question...

You can do what you want. If those cheapskates want something, they tear up whatever they have to in order to get it. All you can do is hopefully make them think twice.

RE: fuel at 4.89

I'm sure glad I live where diesel is dirt cheap, $4.39 (and rising).

RE: Solar Power Bug Lights

I always hope my neighbor has one of these lights. The bugs seem to be drawn to them and away from me.

RE: Sanitizing fresh water system for the first time...

I've seen several people recommend using bleach. However, none of them seem to agree on the ratio of bleach to water. Must be somewhere that has the ratio everyone agrees upon.

RE: They killed my good cell phone

I have one of those new flip phones. I often travel where there is no signal or a weak signal. My battery goes down very fast under those conditions. The phone maker says it is because the phone is constantly searching for a signal hence the dead battery.

RE: Pressure testing for leaks

I don't have any leaks yet, but looks like I could make me a leak tester like trnfla shows, if/when I get one.

RE: Check your frames

The main thing is it's fixed and you can continue to travel. It would be nice if someone else would pay for it, but sometimes things just don't happen that way.

RE: Awning tube snapped in half !

We seldom use ours as the wind blows here in KS. I've seen people put theirs out and got to town. When they get back their awning is over the roof.
